Well I am very much a do is yourselfer and I live in a tiny one bedroom apartment lol. I currently have 16 tanks but only 13 up and running. Two of them were waiting for tops and the other was a flat spot in the apartment. My main problem was the three 55s I have in the house and only 2 stands for 55s. So my third 55 was empty in the kitchen for months mad crazy . Well I finally got off my behind and made a double 55 stand. Just 9 2x4s and a sheet of 3/8 cdx.
This time I managed to get pics during the process.

The two tanks in the living room. Third tank is in the Kitchen empty.

The almost complete stand just needs the plywood and paint.(drill died)

I will post pictures as the project progresses, for now I wait on the drill charging. Then its on to re arranging the living room and breaking down the two tanks and getting them running again. I'm thinking tommorrow night or Saturday.

This is great, Brian! It does not have to be expensive, and you can have more tanks, lol. Can the floor handle the concentrated weight of the double tanks? It looks like with the way your stand is configured the load is definitely spread out. Well done. A little upgrade 393849

Nice work Flipper. Most definitely the concrete slab is the way to go. That was a must when I bought my house.

Stayed up pretty late last night painting. Waiting to get off so I can begin standing couches on end and draining tanks.. I can feel my back hurting already.

Nice build. I have built a couple 20 double stands and a few 55 double stands now the exact same way. The most expensive part of the whole build is the deck screws.... lol. I have a few of mine in the Show and Tell part of this forum, but mine dont look as good cause you took the time to stain yours, Im just not that patient. I have to build a 50 gallon over a 29 gallon here shortly and gonna try salt with the 29 being the sump. It will be my first endevor into salt, so should be fun. Anyhow, nice build and nice use of space... lol.

I painted this one because the last stand I built was not painted so I ended up breaking the whole thing down again just to paint it. This time I looked at it and said 2 55s to break down if I want to paint or just do it now before hand. I just finished my first diy sump on my 125. Those are a bunch of fun to build. Thanks for the compliments and good luck with the salt water endeavor.

Man oh man ,those darn african cichlids are such a pain to catch. The fh got me super wet because I don't have a net big enough to catch him lol . Guess I better go buy a new net. After a little leak in my 2227 and some oring greasing its finished.
