Welcome to the newest chapter of USA fishbox!

Well we have a fresh start for everyone in the area. I don't want to divert from the main Virginia chapter too much but I think from here we can setup our own local meetings to allow people within the tidewater area to better connect.

I know we have a large group of people with many different taste. It is also a group clearly interested in furthering our abilities as aquarium keepers. This chapter will further allow us to expand on our hobby and share our ideas!

Let me just say now this is very welcome and I hope we can get something going that everyone will enjoy. I look forward to seeing more of everyone and hopefully expanding the chapter as time goes on!

So when is the meet? Who is making the moves for the Chapter?

As of right now we have not set a date for the meeting but at our AJ meeting JB had volunteered his fish room to hold our next meeting. My hope would be that we can give a good advance notice so that all who wish to attend can make their plans.

I don't know how everyone else feels but I prefer a good informal meeting. Covering such topics as future meetings, upcoming events, and where we want to go with the club.
Outside of those standardized topics a fry swap meet and small auction are fun to have.

The first meeting is really to just get a feel for how many people we can expect and get our ideas in the open.

JB if you could let us know what times for for you and we can hopefully pick something that will work for the majority of those planning on attending.

I had also volunteered my house , a lot of ppl have been there and know where it is and has plenty of room only problem is being I suck and dont have 50 fish tanks like other hahaha but im down for whatever , does not matter to me where we meet just as long and we meet "i need to get rid of some of my fry haha"

actually next one should be around aug 8th since its my birthday and i want lots of fish presents !!!!

That would work as well. I know JB said we wanted someone to finally see all his tanks haha. Don't forget this will not be the last meeting so we can easily swap locations.

If enough notice is given I think some people from the Central Chapter would like to come down and meet everybody.

Sounds great. Jd said we could meet at his place we should shoot for a date.

I am thinking that mid to late august would be good. After that we can adjust the times better. Also like Ben said if we supply enough notice we may have more people from the central chapter.

Yeah mid to late August is best for me too.. I'm in D.C. this weekend for ACA... then I'll be in the mad rush for "Getting ready" for school now that my summer break is 1/2 over!

13th , 20th ,27th are all saturdays ... so we need to pick one of those i say 20th sounds good since its a nice even number haha

I'll do my best, my daughter is due the 26th and I think she's coming early. But I will try my best to be there.

20th sounds like a good tentative date. It gives a little less then a month notice. If it would be less trouble for you JB we can have this meeting at JD's house. It won't really matter to be honest.
So 20th at JD's sound good to everyone to start? If so I will make another tread where we can add details about the meeting.

Haha, the 20th at JD's is fine with me! Now sort out a time (any time works for me) and I volunteer to give a short talk if anyone is interested. I can do one on collecting Texas Cichlids in San Antonio. And down the road at a meeting I want to do some small little fund raisers and we can actually fly a speaker or two in. For about $400-$500 I can get airfare, lodging and a rental car for the "world famous" speaker, Greg Steeves! I'll donate the first $100 to that cause in a heartbeat!!!
