| Looks like a great rock wall. Have you found any problems with the quartz bearing rocks? I had an issue with ammonia with one quartz layered rock and have stayed away since. Would love to know if you don't, as I recently found some more, and am thinking about building a river rock wall for my Mbuna's. As I think it would suit them more than the Holey Rock as an environment. | |

| thanks,, i will get a full tank shot in the morning..
i have not had any problems with ammonia. its been up and running
for about a month now. tested everyday for the first 2 weeks after the
fishless cycle was completed and the fish were added. also have been testing
everyday for the past few days since i have added the rustys and afras.
possibly something was in the rock that was preventing the bacteria from
growing so your tank was stuck in a cycle | |

| So question for you, my mbuna's would rather rocks as opposed to the lil houses and plants that I have in the tank? Next question is how much is too much for the amount of fish in a 55 gallon mbuna tank. My Red Zebra's are multiplying I see at least 7 diffrent sets of babies born in the last 4 months. | |

| Nice layout. Cameras never do the fish justice. | |

| @tbarnwell...
i am new to mbunas myself so i am still learning.. i would think that the houses/caves
would be fine as long as there is enough hiding spaces for all the fish.. if the fish do
not seem stressed then they should be ok.. i used rocks for a few reasons. they are
cheaper, and more of a natural habitat for the fish.but it all comes down to preference
also i like to aquascape with the rocks.... as for how many fish to keep in a 55 gal....
there is a big debate on this .. some say that 14 fish (3-4in)is a good overstocking
number. i have 16. the main thing is filtration. u want atleast a 10x turn over. right
now i have roughly a 15x turnover with my filtration but i scale that down because
thats at peak performance with minimal tube runs ect.

| @ flukekiller I think I have exceeded that. They keep multiplying so fast. I want my angels to do this.
