| Last night sometime a fat cat butt landed on the surge protector for my saltwater tank and turned everything, I mean everything off! The only thing the power off didn't affect of course was the vacuum powered overflow box which of course won't stop until it runs out of water or the vacuum is broken. Well, it EVENTUALLY ran out of water due to about a 1/3 of my tank water spilling over the side of my refugium underneath! As you might imagine, my 10 gallon refugium couldn't hold it's volume plus 1/3 of my 29 gallon tank's water: the outcome was a bit of flooding and some upset clownfish! Not to mention an upset saltwater tank keeper (me)! I would have taken pictures of it, but due to not knowing A. How long they'd been without filtration, heat, etc. and B. Where the camera was... I decided you'd just have to imagine the scene yourselves. Now I gotta figure out a way to elevate the electrical strip so it doesn't happen again! It's a good thing I love those cats so much, or they'd be in big trouble! Oh yeah, and everyone seems to be o.k.- 2 clownfish, 1 condylactis, and I saw 3 out of my 4 snails and a couple hermit crabs... I'll have to take a snail and hermit crab head count later.... | |

| The camera is not a priority when you have water on the floor, I feel your pain. No dead fish is good... | |

| Ouch that sucks. I would try and devise a way to raise your over flow or get a bugger sump so you wont have that issue again. You can use zip ties to attach the power strip to the stand. |

| that picture of your cat is hilarious. If you want a cheap idea, cut two holes in a shoe box and stick the surge protector in there. It shall defend against butts and water spills. Now for an expensive idea, you can always buy one of those Belkin surge protectors where theres either a lock or a cap for the power button. | |

| this is why i like reef ready tanks, they have a siphon break in the overflow. when you set up a rr tank make sure you do the test. if you had a siphon break your fuge would not have overflowed |

| Now my cat has something out for stick on thermometers... every tank that had one on is now naked and there's the worthless and slightly chewed stick-on temp gauge on the floor... it's great! Not!!! | |

| Geez, I never did ANYthing like that when I was a tot. Poor fishies!
However, I will say my cat ate my betta once. The lil' jerk figured out how to pop off the tank lid and scooped him right up. I miss Obadiah. ;; | |
