First topic message reminder :
I was wondering if anyone has used Aquatop equipment before? I haven't had much luck finding reviews about their canisters. The cost is cheap and I know there is a saying "You get what you pay for". I was hoping someone had some insight on their products and could share with me the experience they had, good or bad.
I was more interested in their line of canister filters, the have UV filtering in them and that is a feature I have not seen in canister systems.
Sorry to the OP As it stands I'm sure you both get the point , we are all here to learn about the hobby, We always encourage questions and debates on topics! After My post about rankings, we should of been back on track, The laundry has aired out... I encourage you Bio Topic to create a new thread about UV and inform us on the subject in more detail.

"In order for a UV to be effective water has to move through it very slowly if it does not then the UV is worthless" Hmmm.... what about asking, "what is the application?" Hmmm.... what about the kill dosage of the bulb? μw/cm² ring any bells? Oh yeah, do not forget flow rate!!! Geez-us man, c'mon! How about just for killing algae? Does the flow rate really matter? No discussion from you in regards to cell wall thickness of algae compared to skeletal structure or C. irritans or I. multifilis. Do you even know which is marine versus fresh?
"In order to know how well the UV works we need to know how much water the UV pushes through it per hr." Well I guess we could always look up the specs of a unit. I am assuming from your limited knowledge and lack of experience you didn't even check the flow rate or the wattage of the bulb in regards to the said unit your were bashing. DO YOUR HOMEWORK before you decided to play ball with the pros. It takes maybe 3 minutes to get this info online. And you shot off your mouth with no knowledge, that happens to be easily attained via the internet, which you were using as you decided to spew your mouth.
I am here to correct bad info and for those who want to learn.
Back to my NewCastles.
Hahaha! Your making yourself look like a complete idiot, look at yourself now your back tracking apologizing to the forum, tsk, tsk. You must be a real expert with the copying and pasting! Congrats! The best part of it all is I'm still right! I made a generalized statement about a really general question. I guess I should have broke down how the biological filtration works in the canister filter as well huh? Should I break that down? Maybe he doesn't know how it works, I bet you do though, why don't you post it! What about the flow rate of the canister filter as well? Could you explain that one to everyone? Actually could you just start with how the pump works? I mean since I didn't go into a great amount of detail about that, that must mean I have no idea what I'm talking about and I'm sure the guy who posted the original question and everyone else needs to know this as well. Please GOD of all knowledge shine your knowledge on all of us, please! Speaking of lack of knowledge please educate yourself on the ranking system of this site, I can tell its a very difficult thing for you to learn, but since you clearly have internet access take the 3 minutes and educate yourself. Then next you can take a few minutes learning what "The God Particle" is. Although it took me a whole degree in physics to get a complete understanding of how the universe works I'm sure you could learn it in your 3 minutes, or copy and paste something. Your what they refer to as a "useful idiot" and there was no need to bash anyone/me in the first place, I don't believe the guy ever asked for an in depth detail on how UV's work. In fact I don't know if your trying to sell this product or what but by how defensive you got I would have to steer clear of this product and mark it as it doesn't work very well. It's people like you who ruin forums and fish keeping for other people with your "I think I know everything mentality and I'm going to attempt to bash you while sounding like a complete tool even though you never actually said anything wrong" mentality.
Oh yeah, I forgot... With utmost respect.
P.S. I wouldn't buy something this cheap anyhow, I'd spend my money and get an FX5. You know the saying I'm sure "You get what you pay for."

I had six of Aquatop CF filters (2x CF400, 3x CF300 and 1x CF500) running almost a year, never had problem. The only thing I have changed is UV bulbs and quartz glass tube on my UV models. They are quite and does wonderful jobs. You can get replacement parts here at truaqua(dot)com
I had some other Aquatop product that involve exchange and return, my experience with their service department is pleasant, they send replacement parts and exchange like any other decent company will do for their customers.
Also you mentioned that company should work over the weekend - but we should respect company that give their people Saturday off for their family and Sunday off for churches.

I think as a general rule, one must take people's information at face value, not gospel or surgical instruction. There are waaaay too many people adding in their 2cents to ever pinpoint what's right or slightly off. The point of any forum is to allow people to place their input so that others may be able to utilize it in their research to do their own thing. However, it should be common knowledge that "you do at your own risk" using any information off the internet.
Thank you flippercon for being the Switzerland of the forum!
