| iv had my 110g up and ruuning since like Feb of last year! nothing new bas been put in since it was set up! the tank inhabitants are 5 adult green severums yellow lab and a tintanti slim buffalo head. i was cleaning the inside of the glass with my mag-float and noticed lil "rocks" on the inside glass. i looked closer and noticed that they were snails!! a whole mess of em! i have tiny spiral shelled snails all over my tank! keep in mind that nothing has been put in this tank since it was set up... were could they have come from? they literally popped out of nowere!!!!! any thoughts or ideas on were they came from or how they came to be?? i hope theyre not MTS. those things are a pain! | |

| Sounds like MTS.... Have you changed the feeding or been feeding more? Just a thought but I ask because I have them in my tank too and if I cut back on feeding they literly dissapear but if feed a lil more their population bounces rite back up. Doesn't explain where they came from but might help out with why they're reproducing. | |

| They generally hide during the day in the gravel (unlike pond snails), so you probably didn't notice them until you had a population boom for some reason.
I agree with Holey Rock - just get a loach and kiss them goodbye.

| Spooky, snails from no where, maybe came down with the aliens, have you noticed any new crop circles lately or burnt round spots in yard. I get them sometimes to usually when I add new plants. lol | |

| I actually had quite a few pond snails in my moss tank, they were laying eggs everywhere! Then I added a couple of female bettas, some young rubber-lipped plecos and a chinese algae eater. Well, the betta females enjoy munching on young snails and the algae eaters relished the egg clusters. When I redid the tank today I only found one adult snail left - and no eggs. | |

| honestly i would not worry if you have MTS in your tank. i think they are huge benefit if anything; give your tank's ecology time to stabilize and the population should plateau accordingly to how much you feed your tank. think of them as earthworms and Detritivores and theyll help keep your tank clean. if you see MTS's swarm and run amok tht means youre overfeeding. | |

| If they are MTS ,, not much eats them . I have a tank with some Assassin Snails in it and they help keep the population down. Here is a link to a video of my Multi tank. If you pause it at 52 seconds there is a adult MTS snail in the upper left side , and @ 222 seconds there is a Coconut shell with babies on it . If these look like yours , then thats what you have .

Hope this helps you in Identifying your snails . Ray
