| one of our local LFS had some jellyfish aquariums with the fish for sale a while back.. they were so gracefull... awesome looking tanks... i understand they are pretty fragile to keep. came across this site today, which i thought was pretty interesting... lots of videos on setups, and fancy custom setups! | Wow that is really nice. The tank cost is on the high side but the JellyFish are priced within reason. | |

| that video is pretty irresponsible! the video shows them using tap water and just like that you're ready for your Jellies then in another area of the site it says they discourage using tap water well duh theres much more involved aside from the 0 corner design of a jellyfish tank. its filtration is very similar to a reef tank. It should involve surface skimming, mechanical and chemical filtration, as well as, a efficient biological filter hmm wheres that coming from the gravel or the glass beads? It would also be a good idea to incorporate a protein skimmer. Overall water quality is Paramount RO/DI water as a base NOT tap water! they also fail to mention that jellyfish require MULTIPLE feedings on a DAILY basis EVERYDAY. many jellyfish species are cold water. Since they live in waters that range from 55 to 65 degrees you WILL need a chiller ever price a chiller? $$$ I wish people would do their research before jumping in head first. after all its the animals who ultimately suffer and give this Hobby a bad name.. sadly is all about the old mighty dollar. JMHO and I thought ponies were a bold endeavor.

| aren't there some jellyfish that are carnivorous as well as some that symbiotically harvest algae? or is it they all have algae storage but also catch fish in their tentacles? question just popped up in my head... | |

| I noticed in there custom jellyfish section it mentions that at least two on their jellyfish they sell require a chiller. I guess it is just not in that basic video but it is on the site.
I agree though tons of research should be done especially before doing something like this only because it is a special needs case and the things being kept cost too much to guess with hehe | |
