Kick me please! Impulse buy/rescue

Yes 2 baby (2") oscars. They were heading for the toilet so I got them for $5 for both.

OMG they look exactally like the ones that i just rescued as well, albino and the green with orange on him.

I just can't say no when someone mentions a toilet!

Had 3 breeding pairs for a few years they were lots of fun.

How do you tell male from female? I don't own a TV! I have a 250 gal pond in the living room instead.

The only way I could tell is when they started to get some size on them, the females had narrower faces and the males had the typical big broad bull face that american cichlids tend to get. Males were a bit bigger than the females also but that was the only way I told them apart, but I'm sure someone who's better at it will come along.

You don't need a tv with Oscars LOL lower the water level a bit give them a ping pong ball, mine really like the walmart ones with the smiley faces and instant entertainment. When they get past the 7" or right around there don't worry about decorating the tank they'll do it themselves LOL

And you'll need a bigger tank. We have two in a 75g and they just about fit.LOl .they get really big. We have large size pebbles in it and they love to move them around.

And if you dnt want the albino I'll buy him

The pond is a great place to put them!! you'll have to figure some type of cover but that would be big enough for them.

I have a second pond sitting in the yard empty. HHHMMMMMMMM where to put it!!!!

They are fun to keep. I had a pair that were 15" and 13" that my buddy and I bough together. We kept them in a 75 and they were cramped in it. Good luck. They are very entertaining.

The 55g will be fine for now, you will love them! They are half dog I swear!!!!!
