Last night i just found out the reason why i hear clic noises every night and sometimes in the afternoon while im at home..., they were coming from the 75gl tank.. a clic...clic... clic... and it stops, i tought it was the filter motor taking a du**, but last night i was having dinner and i looked at the tank and got him on the spot!!, the noise was coming from my 4" Male Kenyi banging the heater against the glass with his tail going in circles , im gonna try to get a vid from him but im afraid hes gonna break the heater and cause a big problem, any ideas why hes doing this???

It may be when the light comes on I had a krib that would attack the heater every time the light came on to warm the tank.

I have also seen fish attack the heater, they usually get bored with it after a while.
They do sell heater guards, they are a plastic sleeve thing that slips over the heater so that if a large fish hits it it wont break.

My lovely "Jaws" attachs the heater and the only time does is when he's raising fry then again he'll attack anything that isn't his g/f or fry when he's in that mode.

I have a black plastic heater so no fear of it breaking....you can also get an extra suction cup to slip over the heater and attach it to the tank wall so that it is attached top & bottom more firmly so he can't bump it into the tank.

Just remember though we think we are in control Cichlids for the most own us humans!!! They shimmy with the fish dance for treats, others follow us around as far as the tank allows, if they stare long enough they'll get a treat, etc.... they redecorate if it's not suitable LOL

I used to have cichlids, I know how hard it is to resist them! LOL

Now I deal with a little black ocellaris clown who thinks he is a piranha!

That's funny like my Jaws really don't like his personality but dang he produces some beautiful youngsters with the right g/f.
Then there's my Missy who isn't naughty when working in the tank she just wants lots of pets LOL even with fry she's a nice girl.
