Red Empress's are one of the few peacocks that don't need dithers... for whatever reason I don't think I've ever seen a male beating up a female.... could just be luck but I've never seen it happen.

Just to clear the record. They are Haplochromis. They get a little bigger then Peacocks do. I would plan on getting a bigger tank in the future. I would also plan on adding to your group. Maybe 2-3M / 9-10 Fem In 100 Gallons plus. I had 1M and 10 female in a 100G and had fry coming out my Red Empress 10088 And then my male passed.....wish I would of had another one.

If you keep your small group ...from experiance I can tell you as soon as you loose one it hurts the group b/c it is so small already and most likely more deaths to follow with an ending result in having 1 or no fish. The larger the group the more breeding and less deaths you will have. I GARUNTEE that. They are non stop breeders if you get them going. Red Empress 772341

that would been some breeder's deal of the day. I thought you still have them. I just got about 20 of them last weekend from a friend. They spawned after two days of being in my tank. These guys are rabbits lol!

Yes they are. Great looking fish. Takes awhile for them to color ...like most Haps...but very very nice color. Red and blue everywhere. Females hold 60+ eggs in there mouth. Good stuff Red Empress 772341
