| I have a 55 on a low 1ft high stand. Is it possible to have a ten gallon as a sump but have it sitting next to it so I don't have to buy a new stand or would a sump not be worth all that? | |

| My only thing is that it would hold some of my equipment but I guess on the side it'd be weird looking anyway. | |

| if you had enuff backspace behind the tank i think youll be able to get away with it! but i think youll only be able to place a skimmer in it and thats it! you can make baffles and have half of it as a fuge! | |

| The ones I saw were over 100 bucks. Blah... as a side question do I need any filters at all on a saltwater setup? | |

| protein skimmer helps pull organic cr@p out of the water. ebay search refugium and you can find a CPR class A 2nd (cosmetic damage usually) with a skimmer for around 100... you can also try aquatraders.com for combo skimmer/fuge. CPR is probably where most people would put their money, but the stuff at aquatraders is WAY budget friendly. | |

| Yes all tanks need filters. You can use a HOB filter.

| Just hope you never have a power loss! 10 gallon sumps would overflow in about 5 seconds! Could be the biggest wet mistake ever! JB | |

| I would invest in a Hob fuge. It will be well worth your $$$$. I had the same problem on my 75G salt water. For a temporary I used a sump beside the tank and it didn't look right. Also you could build your own Hob fuge. | |

| question again... lol
i have the two tanks next to each other now... is it possible for me to get a pump that pumps water out and into the ten gallon, and back out of the ten gallon into the 55? like a powerhead with a tube? it won't overflow during a power outtage, i can keep a little clean up crew in the ten gallon just so there's something in there and keep my heater and an extra filter running in there to keep my main tank looking clear of equipment.
yay or nay? | |

| you can just do an overflow out of a siphon tube. Only put it far enough down in the main tank that if you lose power to the pump it siphon breaks before it overflows the 10. | |
