| So last night i set my tank up. 30 gallon and i added 30 lbs of sand. I rinsed the sand to get the milky color out of it. And the tank is still cloudy. My question is how long will it take for that to settle?? Thanks | |

| My aragonite took about a day to settle down. I rinsed until it ran clear but when putting in 40# I guess it is hard to get all the matter out of it. I left my filter and powerhead running during the process though. | |

| Pack your filter with added Poly-Fil material. Rinse that out every so often. It'll clear in no time. | |

| I added the water first then the sand. Probably my first mistake. And I rinsed about 5 lbs at a time. But only once. | |

| Not that it matters now...next time rinse your sand, put it in the tank wet and then add the water. If you are pouring from a bucket or something put a plate or something similar in on the sand and pour on it to minimize sand disturbance.
It will settle down in a day or so. Don't worry! | |

| YEah there is no worry it will settle. If you see any foamy stuff at the top just skim it off the top of the water and get it out. Next time you do it, wash it a few times and mix your hand in there to move the sand around. I would put sand in 1st and then I usually put some rock down in the spot that I am going to poor the water in. That way the water breaks off on the rock instead of the sand. If you just poor water on the sand it could mix it up and start to cloud. The rock helps break the water to make a lesser impact on the sand thus the result is the sand not moving or stiring much. Hope that helps. Here is a short clip on how I clean mine. https://usafishbox.forumotion.com/diy-do-it-yourself-projects-f11/cleaning-your-sand-t2757.htm | |

| Ok i added about 15 more lbs tonight. I did rinse it alot more. then put it in a container and lowered it to the bottom and turned over. I did also swish it all around by hand last night and tonight. It is clearing a little. I figure by this weekend it should clear up and i will look for some rock. | |
