my temp water is a lot of my tanks are around 74. I'm like Kory....don't trust them. It has been rather cool here in Dallas the last few nights and I'll turn the house heater on before I turn on the tank heaters, except for my reef tank.

I have a floating thermometer on vats outside.
One has cichlids I am growing out and the other Albino Bristlenose Plecos.
The thermometer reads 58 Deg. F lol! Fed the VATs this morning with flakes and the cichlids do what they usually do. Go to the top and feast on the flakes. They acclimated well, but soon I will have to get them out I can't take a chance for the temp inside the tank to drop to 40. Igot Albino Cobues and BB slims and galireya reef in there.

No heaters yet here...Only my Fancy Plecos gets heaters...

The "good deal" heaters cuz' I bought a large air pump, they for the most part suck worked great for the first couple of years then they went crazy!! Now I know why LOL they needed to move them. Either way too hot even for the frillys or won't get over 74F. So only have a few brands I use that have been great over the years.

I use a space heater. Roll it out on wheels and plug it in next to the tanks. Warms up the one room pretty nice.

When I start shutting the windows the ole' humidifier gets plugged in that keeps the few unheated tanks right at 74, for me to actually plug in the space heater as I hate base boards the rest of the house prays I get cold LOL otherwise suck it up and get a blanket

I have been using heaters for over 20 years now and never had a problem with them and keep them in my tanks year round.
