| Check your rubber gaskets and make sure its not broken or dry rotted.
Turn it off and grab your spare filter and run that till you get your canister fixed. If you don't have a spare now is a good time to get one. |

| The clips are simple mechanical hold-downs. The point of contact for sealing is, as Fern noted, the rubber gasket in the motor head that rests on the lip of the can.
To trouble shoot, you need to supply more information. Such as; it was running fine for weeks--then suddenly started leaking or it started leaking after i cleaned it and reinstalled it..........
Broadly speaking, either the gasket has failed or your re-assembly was incorrect or your return hose is kinked or........? | |

| There is a 100% silicone gasket re-conditioner and preserver that may revive your gasket if it is not broken, I'm not sure of the exact name of it. You need to take it apart and make sure it was reassembled correctly and inspect all of your gaskets. Every time you service your canisters you should inspect the gaskets, It is a good habit to get into because the most common canister failure is caused by broken/dry rotted/misaligned gaskets. |
