| they do best in colonies i wouldnt do less than 6 but a good rule of thumb is 1 per 10 gallons full grown. but i also use this for smaller discus as well just to be safe | |

| Oh I know how big they can get! Bigger than a large dinner plate! Not sure if my coworker will give me 5-6 though, 2-3 is more likely. |

And help you have! My coworker breeds them and he swears up and down I will love them if I get some and hes offered to give me a few if I want, hes really trying to get me into them. Just not too sure he'd be willing to part with 5-6 for no $. Would they be happy in a PH of 7.5-7.0? That's my tap water range. I know I could soften and acidify it some in the tank by using a fair amount of drift wood. Will they be fine with corydoras cats? If so that may give me more reason to make room, then I could have cory breeders in there. |

| discus and cory cats s/be fine together....the thing to consider when chosing a discus tankmate is the eating habits. discus tend to be slow eaters but since you're mixing with a bottom feeder, shouldn't be a problem
pillierox1, you can get 1" juvies from 2 of the local breeders (Arlington) for $10 each...one might even cut a 3 for $20 deal. when you're ready, let me know and I'll hook you up | |

| Oh discus my new love. I have been keeping SA cichlids and find these guys to be a lot like other SA cichlids but like to be with eachother more then others. They like to pick on eachother and explore they are graceful and yes have lots of personality. Fern I think you would like them. They get along with other fish that have simular needs in temp and water. Good tank mates should be peacful and not a threat and will not fight them for food. It's best to feed young often 3-6 times a day. because of this you should do more WC everyday to every other day. Its work to grow up young discus right but rewarding. here are my little guys around 3" the group I'm looking for one more | |
