Java Fern (Microsorum pteropus)
Java Fern (Microsorum pteropus) DSCN0462-1
This is a nice low light slow growth rhizome plant. I would recommend this plant to anyone new to planted tanks as it is very undemanding. This plant is not planted in the substrate but rather tied onto rock or driftwood using cotton string. It will attach itself in time to whatever you tie it to and by that time the string will have rotted away. This plant does well with fish that eat most plants, the java fern has tough and unpalatable leaves. Given time a small plant will grow into a stunning bunch.
