hi and greetings!
i am a avid petrochromis lover who has had the privlege of keeping a large number of different petros including longola,orange kasumbe,texas bulu,famula bangwe,trewavasae.i also have kept several tropheus.
if you have never kep petrochromis give them a try...they are like pupp dogs in their interaction with you...you can litterally feed them right from you hand.
well enough rambling....i'm glad to have found this site and look foward to getting to know you all.

that is super cool. they are amazing fish but i have never had the privilege of keeping them. would love to see some pics of them tho.

petros are a lot like tropheus. the aggression in petros is similar to tropheus except that a petrochromis can do much more damage in a short amount of time.its best to have a large quanity of petros in a colony with as little amount of males as possible.i like keeping 1 male with as many females as you can afford.you can also put a colony of tropheus with them to crowd the tank.the more the merrier!there is some petros that are far less aggressive than others such as famula and trews.these two variants are a good petro to start with,because you can learn how to keep petros with minimal aggression compared to the larger more aggressive ones,such as longola,and orange kasumbe.a tank of petrochromis requires you have great amounts of filtration and water movers such as powerheads.if anyone has any questions i'd be glad to try and answer them,but i am no expert but know quite a bit about these awesome fish.once you get a colony you will see why.
