| My male and female betta are now together in the breeding tank after being conditioned and courting. The problem is, they wont spawn. This is day 2 of them being together and after they were released, when the female would swim fast, a few eggs would drop out of her. The male is trying to get her to the nest but she is not following. I know it can take up to 3 or 4 days but is there anything i can do or change to help the process along ?

| So i woke up this morning to find my female dead. This could be why she didn't want to spawn i guess. I have already sterilized the tank and i do have another female that is just about ready, so hopefully I can try again soon. | |

| im sorry to hear that but i wouldnt leave ur female in the tank for 3 or 4 days, i never do it should only be bout 24 to 48 hrs but thats it. ive been hav a hard time breeding my pair since they r virgins. ive tried it twice so far but the second time i was getting closer but they tore the bubble nest up wen they wer courting so i would be patient. thats the best thing to do if they dont do anything then take her put her in a tank by herself and use betta revive to cure her fins. after feeding them bloodworms for 2 weeks then try it again. use ur judgment, if she doesnt look good then take her out better to start over than to lose a betta. | |

| The courtship can take as much as 3 to 4 days. Taking the female out to early is interfering with the courtship. All the fighting is normal. By about the third day she should start coming over under his nest and that is a sign to him that she is ready. ...pillie that may be why you haven't have any spawns yet. Your not giving them there correct time for the courtship. Occasionally you do loose a female but that's the name of the game. I just lost my favorite Pie Bald female last week because of it. it's a chance you take with breeding Bettas. | |

| Sometimes they do that. Kind of waiting for the male to deside what he wants to do. There is nothing else for her to do while waiting for the chasing and fighting begins. Just chillen. Does he build a nest? You have to get over being affraid of her getting hurt or you will never get any fry. They do get hurt and fins do get nipped off. I have one right now that doesn't hardly have any fins left from it but that's how they do it. It's very hard to watch until the ballet starts. | |

| I switched out my female for one that was already conditioned had had a spawn in 24 hours. I have about two dozen fry right now that are about 4 days old. I didn't expect much because this is my first spawn but I'm excited now. | |
