Aggressive Fish

I have a Giant Gourami that is about 11" and he is the most aggressive fish I had ever had and I've had alot of aggressive fish over the years but nothing compares to my Giant Gourami.Every fish that I put with him that is 4" or bigger he tries to kill them even fish his size.He has killed my 10" Red Devil and one of my 8" Midas and a 8" Texas Cichlid.I have a 5" male Red Zebra that he beat up, but I saved him.All my Oscars that are 4",7"and 10" he has beaten them up.I put 8" Flower Horn with him and he beat him up.All my Jack Dempsey's he beat up also that are 6" and 8". Rite now he is in with all my small African Cichlids that are all under 4" and he doen't bother anybody yet but as soon as I get some more tanks set up he will have a tank by himself. He is a male Giant Gourami and I will get pics up asap.[img][/img]

My Giant Gourami beat the hell out of my 10" Red Oscar with in two hours.

Not just an Oscar,but also my Jacks and had killed a Red Devil and Flowerhorn I use to have.

The Red Devil and the Flowerhorn both were 10".

Put a snakehead with it. Maybe it would calm him down a bit

That will def calm him down! Now if he beats up the Snakehead, we might have to get a fighting fish forum up.

Maybe cuz I can't even keep a pleco with him!

what size tank are you housing these monsters in?

Some are in a 55g for now till I get a bigger tank.

i think its the tank size, a 11" fish in a 12" wide tank.

If you really want more fish in your tank, take the Giant Gourami out, rearrange tank and put the new fish in first, than the gourami. Also the tank does look small to have another large aggressive fish in there. Just some thought.

I think your fish is telling you he wants that tank to himself. He has claimed the whole tank as his territory and doesn't want to share it. A bigger tank may help. As suggested, make him the last fish to be added, but he may just bully everyone until he claims the tank again. Sounds like he don't play well with others. lol

I agree with jeaninel, the reason he's aggressive is bc your tank is too small for him and hes just being territorial.. that tank is too crowded with just him, a 55g is too small.. id say atleast a 100 or higher. If not just give him up, it's not fair for him to be in that tank. just my opinion..

I'm working on getting a 100g or bigger for him and hopefully he will calm down a little bit.

ahhhh i want a snakehead....grrrrrrrrrrrr!!! were culd i findd one?? lol
