| breeding cichlids is very easy once u got the pair! the best trick in the book is good food water changes and with every change raise the temp a few degrees, My 5 stars like when I change the decor it seems to bring it rite out. I have some red jewels that will only brred when I stimulate a rain fall so I rigged up a tube that runs off an old hang on back filter the water runs thru the pipe that lays on the top of the tank and water drips out of drilled holes. I breed many many different types of cichlids and havent found one yet that cant be tricked into breeding. If you ever have ?s feel free to pm, call or text me at (814) 441-0272. I am always glad to be of help when it comes to a new breeder. | |

| I will say convicts are one of the easiest of all cichlids but they get very aggressive and will kill fish 3 times their size in the process. I just got nailed today in my dempsey tank taking out the fry and altho it doesnt hurt it scares the cr@p outta u when ur not ready for it | |

| from what i here about convict cichlids, all you need is a pair.A good fish to learn with.I,ve found that African cichlids are very interesting breeders.they are called mouthbrooders,as opposed to most american cichlids who lay eggs on the subsrate or cave ,etc. some lay hundreds of eggs. also some ,like flowerhorns are so agressive that a divider may be needed. | Yes you will jump. Live plants will get eaten by most of your aggressive cichlids and they love rearranging the tank. Convicts are the easiest and also the hardest to get rid of. |

| wow, that is awesome. thanks everyone for the replies! all the info is very much a help. i will most definately try these tips. i did alot of the same tecs with my community tank and got great results from mollies and such. alot of great ideas. maybe what i can do is set up a smaller tank and set it up with lots of plants and what not to simulate the change. and set it up to simulate the rain fall, and grab a couple pairs and toss them in and see how that works, what do you thing about that? dose that seem like it could work?
thanks jimmy | |

| It is easier to help you out if you figure out what fish you want to get first.
Feeders are not needed, any quality food is much better for then than feeders. |
