- This is just my personal opinion but we are FISH lovers, not PHOTOGRAPHERS. So, contrast to some of you, i think it is wow i want that fish, thats a good looking fish, I am going to vote for that. To me that is what it should be IMO. We all cant afford SLR's and image processing programs to make our pictures look amazing. I think Rachael and Kory do a great job on picking the top 10, and in all honestly every picture that makes the cut should win without suprise because to me every picture that makes it has great qualities. Some pictures look better then others but it could be because some are using SLR's and others like me are using our phones. This is why i love this forum because we all come together for fish, not to show who has more money. It is great to see how some get excited about a 2 dollar convict and others are excited about the 100 dollar rare fish they just bought. but it is always the same response: Congrats!!! We dont judge here and if we limited the POTM to great quality pictures then to me, we are just like every other forum.
with this also. but i also dont. u said we cant all afford SLR's and image processing programs to make our pictures look amazing. the fish that have been winning are exspensive fish. so if u can spend money on a fish and u can on other stuff. i basicly vote on the picture that is the most unique. like a fish doing something it dont normaly do everyday.

i basicly vote on the picture that is the most unique. like a fish doing something it dont normaly do everyday. Good point, but the $20 i spent on my ebjd and $30 on the nugget was breaking the bank for me at the time, and slr's are crazy expensive. But regardless POTM is there and people will vote however they want, and that might be different then the way you and me vote.

| I voted on the puffer, it was so neat looking! I couldn't tell what side or end I was seeing. I like that in a pic |

I would have voted for the puffer too, if mine wasnt involved. It was a great picture. Very interesting.

| I pick the top ten based on the PICTURE which includes: whats in it, uniqueness, quality of picture (as long as it isnt horrible it will make the cut) and things like that. I have said this before, we are not all professionals here and thats what I like about this site. In a previous post I said 'I also look for picture quality and clarity. I think its about how cool the picture is, not the quality of the fish in the pic but the quality of the picture itself.' What that means is I dont care if the fish is purebred or if it is a simple goldfish, if it is a good, unique pic then it has a chance to make the top ten. By no means does the picture have to be of professional quality but it needs to be focused and clear. | |
