| This website suggests a group of duboisi cichlid. http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/fish/duboisicichlid.php
Cyprichromis is a nice looking and is a mid to top dwelling Eretmodus (goby)eat algae off rocks, sometimes leaving tooth mark Tropheus is also an algae eater Lamprologus like to like in large snail shells
I don't know if any of these would actually work in your tank but they all come from the same African lake so water parameters are the same.

| How many about 4 or 5 in a 39 bowfront or less | |

| If you look at the adult size of your fish (duboisi cichlid (DC) get to be around 5 in and pleco can get to two feet) then one inch of fish to 1 gallon of water means you could A) have three DC's and the one pleco B) find a smaller algea eater (Eretmodus (goby) gets to be little over 3 in) in which case you could have 5 DC's and 3 goby's C) get a really big tank (like 100 gal) and have 1 pleco, 6 DC's and a variety of other cichlids.
If you want 4 or 5 DC's you would have to be extra vigilant about testing water and keeping Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate at barely discernible levels (it can be done but can get tiresome since it has to be done so much more often because the tank is technically "overstocked")
FYI these are suggestions ONLY, if anyone with more cichlid experiance tells you different believe them over me. (it's been almost 10 years since I had my last cichlid)

| this is okay for now but not a long term solution for these guys. they are going to need a much bigger tank and tend to get aggressive as they age. im glad you have however becuase its either have one or a group of these guys. | |
