Here is a list of illegal aquatic plants in Texas

Giant Duckweed

Salvinia

Water Lettuce

Hydrilla (Florida Elodea)

Lagarosiphon (African Elodea)

Eurasian Watermilfoil

Alligatorweed

Rooted Water Hyacinth

Paperbark

Torpedograss

Water Spinach

Giant Salvinia

The law applies to everyone: aquatic plant producers and distributors, garden centers, pond supply stores, pet stores, and individual pondkeepers.

* a fine of not less than $200 nor more than $2000,
* a jail term not to exceed 180 days, or
* both a fine AND imprisonment.

So if you have any of these plants, KILL EM!

Louisiana has pretty much the same list of illegal aquatic plants. In some open areas the state wildlife & fisheries imported some sterile carp like the one we caught at the lake to eat up all these evasive fast growing plants.

At my local park, there's a BUNCH of giant duckweed that I've been catching and putting in my fish tank (lol). Well, I guess my goldfish aren't getting anymore snacks.
