| I have an african lungfish not sure what species but all of a sudden he got sick and his eyes glazed over, just his eyes nothing else on his body ofther than some natural slime. I got him over that and now(about 2 weeks later)he has lost his color. He turn extremly pale in less than 24 hours but still has an appetite. Need some advice i dont want to let him go. | |

| lungfish arent bred for color. they are generally inactive slobs in aquariums. lol.
u might want to go for an axolotl instead. same general body type. cuter, relatively active and smaller sized. ^_^ essentially these are just like water dogs

| Well mine has always had a nice deep color, very active hunter. Would not classify as a "slob" cleans his tanks of all meals. Thats why i need help as to why he would loose his color in less than 24 hours | |

| hmmm you should post a picture to ID it. because if you dont know the species 40 gal might be getting too small. most lungfish spp can grow to 3 to 6 feet, fish dont grow to the size of the tank. | |

| Yes but he is only 18in long in a 36x18x17 tank 40 gal tank would that cause the rapid color change? | |

| also do not think your lungfish is dead, even if it looks dead. lungfish have learned to endure some harsh conditions by secreting a mucous substance around them--like a snot cocoon that looks like key lime yogurt. it looks very dead, but in fact hibernating. i guess the only 100% sure way of telling whether a lungfish is truly dead or just in hypersleep is it starts to rot. | |
