| I have an empty 2.5gallon from the office and we're closing shop and moving things to a storage unit. I have no idea what to do with it, now that it doesn't have an office home. No filter, just a heater for when it got cold. I've thought about using it as a terrarium, and not sure if I want to put a fish in it again. Just too small a tank for fish IMO. I tried office mascots and they didn't last long. Any ideas what I can do with the tank? My plan was to do low/no maintenance and equip(that's why terrarium idea worked for me). My other half would like to put it in a field and chuck stones at it.... | |

| Killifish....they are frequently kept without filters and a pair would probably be okay in a small tank like that. They are relatively inactive fish for the most part and most of them do not get much over 2". Finding them for sale can be a bit of a challenge but you can get eggs ready to hatch from aquabid pretty cheap and they are supposed to grow pretty fast. There are way too many species to list and most of them have a location added to the name and sometimes the year the original stock was removed from the wild which can make things a little confusing. Fundolopanchax gardneri is a good one to start with as well as aphyosemion australe and striatum. | |

| Well you could put a male Betta in it but with no filter you would have to do wc twice a week. | |

| Naaa!, all those ideas are great, but if you have any kids or know of some one in your circle that has young ones, clean that tank up really nice and get a small Air pump and one of those disposable filters that come with attachements that stick to the side of the tank and wrap it up really nice and make it a great Christmas present, show the lad how to set it up and take him or her and have them pick out their own gold fish, there what 10 cents and watch what happens, you know the old saying give one a fish and feed him for a day, teach him to fish and feed him for a life time, enjoy, that's how I got intro 43 years ago, Merry Christmas and a happy New Year's to all. | |
