Deff a pleco hard for me to tell from the pics but I am no pleco guy and some awsome substrate in the tank. LOL i love that stuff I have it in a few of my tanks.

Its not a farowella cat (whiptail) I saw something like it when I was looking through my fish books the other day... If I run across it again I will give you the ID along with all the stats.
By the looks of it I would feed it shrimp pellets and algae wafers till you get a proper ID

Fern a whiptail is not a farowella. A farowella is also called a stick fish. The catfish pictured looks likea Loricarichthys ucayalensts from the Rio Negro a very soft acid river. The Loricarichthys family are refered to as whiptails.
