| Hey people. I found your forum searching for some fish and seems like quite a nice thing you have going on here, a nice little community. I am more or less a beginner when it comes to fish tanks, I have dreams of huge, exotic saltwater tanks with clowns hiding in anemones but its a bit far fetched right now. Please forgive me if I am incorrect on fish names. At the time i have a happy community tank (29gal) with a giant gold angel, 2 enormous blue flame tetras that act like piranahs, a rainbow, a zebra danio with the long wavy fins, 3 emerald cory cats that stick eggs everywhere, and a big fat old medusa head pleco. It is a very natural looking tank with lots of amazingly cool, round stones of all colors and sizes that i found on the beaches of the great lakes. I like to design artistic, cool looking tanks, and then add fish later. I just recently did a 55 gal tank all in pure white. white small gravel, all cut marble caves and "buildings" made from cut marble blocks i have been making. looks amazing and I just put 6 jewel cichlids into it. They seem happy and love swimming around and through the marble "city" i made for them. poor little pet store cichlids I "saved" lol, they are all beat up looking and pale but i figure in about 2-3 weeks they will be amazing after i fatten them up! Maybe someone has some suggestions on what i could put in with the jewels? i figure i have room for 3 more?

| Welcome to the box! Well jewels get pretty mean and can get some size on them fast. I had 6 jewels in a 55 and they spawned like convicts. They are really mean when breeding in my experience. Do you have any pictures of your tanks? We love pictures here.

| So I just put 6 jewel cichlids in the 55 gal tank. I thought they would be digging but nothing yet. All are between 2"-3" and still drab. They are voracious eaters and so fun to watch as they pig out. | |
