What are the tank mates and what is the reason you are asking?

I am not sure if they could or would.

they are in a tank with another jack and the reason i i am asking is because they hang out in a dark corner of the tank while the other jack hangs by its shelf

If both jacks are males that is the reason they are not hanging out.

The Jack that hangs out by himself...would u consider him the dominate one of the group?

Moved your topic here. They can interbreed if given the opportunity.

I can probably sex your jacks for you with a picture I have gotten decent at it , as for jacks breading with fire mouths I am sure they would try indeed but if it would be successfully or not I can not tell you. I have seen jd's trying to breed with fastae and have heard of jd's trying to breed with texas "carpintis" cichlids.

I don't see why not but why? They are both pretty mean fish. An odd pair.

Well I think they will breed only if there is not another fish from the same species to breed with 1st. If not then yes a chance.
