| Make a long story short the wife and I were in wall mart doing some food shopping and what not. I always have to run by the fish section just to make sure they are taking care of the tank correclty. If not I always notify someone Anywho , We were looking at Bettas and I told my wife I wanted a Betta. She said cool so I let her pick it out. Funny thing is she picked the one I lik most to. So yeah our 1st Betta. CLick pic for video. Here is a pic. | |

| Very pretty KMX but one suggestion. If those are coral or sharp rocks in there get them out. He'll be shreading his fins on them. Get some smooth stones or driftwood with no sharp edges. Good luck. | |

| I keep betta fish but only females. I can house them together and the females seem to be more personable. Nice crowntail! | |

| Don't mean to be picky but at looking at the video again I noticed there is not filter. If you are not going to use a filter then you will have to do 100% wc once or better yet twice a week they get fin rot very easily. Also be sure to keep your water levels down low enough so he can't jump out. Bettas are known jumpers. Sorry but just want this to be a good experience for you and your Betta. | |

| No please! Thank you for the info. Anything else you have in mind please let me know. I did not know that about the filter. 2 times a week is no problem. | |

| OK don't mean to be bossy. I love the vase he's in just watch your water levels. You could cut a round piece of plastic canvas to put over it. Just remember that Bettas are air breathers ( Labyrinth) so don't put a glass over it that would completely cut off the good fresh air supply. Also the main mistact most new owners make is over feeding. Keep in mind that his tummy is only as big as his eye ball. 3-4 pellets twice a day is plenty. They do love frozen Bloodworns being carnivors or anything that moves. | |

| Yes just crush them up a little. if they aren't used to flakes they may not eat them. I would do the flakes maybe once a week. mine would never eat them. Also some or I should say most of the Betta pellets on the market are very large for Bettas. I have know idea why they make them that big. I got some from Kens once and they were so big I had to crush them up. They were awful. I feed mine only Atisons Betta Pro. Smaller and just right for there little mouths. Very hard to find though. | |

| Welcome to the betta world Kory. They really are a wonderful fish. I currently keep 6. Aqueon betta pellets are also small and all my bettas love them. I usually feed my bettas bloodworms once a week as a treat. Good luck with your new fishy friend! | |

| One thing KMX, if you keep your thermostat below 71 or open the windows to cool down overnight - there is the chance of him getting chilled. That's how mine got clamped fins and how Whisper had a mass die-off recently. Males can't handle being chilled very well.
He's very pretty. Would look wonderful with a handful of live plants or moss balls!

| Oh yes that reminds me. Put a wide leaf silk plant in for him to rest on. There fins get heavy for them to carry around and occasionally you'll see them resting on a leaf. | |
