Yes I do keep them and have a very "fruitful" trio (1male/2females)......just started selling fry cus each female produces 15-25 consistently. Hey I submitted a pic of one of the females for the FW POTM (July).........absolutely luv them. They stay a great size.

Yes my husband and I do find ourselves sitting and just watching all the activity......it is the favorite place to eat dinner (dining room table is right next to the tank).

Funny you should ask......we purchased a Yellow Lab from the LFS and having a more educated eye (these days...) I was able to spot a female out that bunch that was holding so I figured hey more fish for the price of one. We were replacing the lab we lost to bloat........that learning curve is a mutha........got heavy handed with the bloodworms. Anyway she just let out 8 and they are in the breeder box now growing out. The other two labs we already had went crazy when they first saw her in the breeder before she spat. It was like they came to life all of a sudden and pranced around the breeder trying to out do the other....too funny. Now they take turns trying to impress her and chasing each other away from her.......yes they are very entertaining!

That is good stuff. Glad to see you like them as much as I like mine. I have a total of 29. I have a nice little colony just starting to breed. 25 of them came from a friend in LA. The other 4 I just got today from B-builder. I am mixing blood lines to keep to breed strong.

What LFS did you get the Labs from?

Wow.....you guys really amaze me with all the tanks you have and gosh all the quantities of fish too! When you say you are mixing the bloodlines to make the breed strong what do you mean? All our fish came from the Fish Gallery in Dallas.......they did the whole tank setup for us too.

I am mixing the Yellow labs to make the breed strong. 25 of them are from the same parents. So I wanted to make sure I had some from different parents.

Yeah ya got that right $$$ but it was well worth it cus due to some unfortunate mistakes (on Fish Gallery) I came out with a brand new tank, some extra fish and 6mos free maintenance service that gave us all the "on the job training" we needed to take care of the tank on our own......lets just say it worked out and we are pretty loyal to them because of how the whole situation was handled. The GM there is the best! Gotcha on the strengthening of the breed.

Well I am glad it worked out for the better.
