PostSubject: Pregnant male guppy?!?!   Pregnant male guppy?!?! Icon_minitime5/27/2011, 9:07 am

OK, OK, I know males cannot get pregnant (I can wish, tho, right?)

All joking aside. My male guppy looks pregnant. I KNOW its a male, I can see the gonopodium. He is super bloated, and just...pregnant looking. I thought dropsy, but he doesnt look like a pine cone. Could he have eaten too much? The fish have been chowing down on the floaty plants I have. Could that be it? What can I do? I have no money to buy anything, but I do have a few supplies.

Help please. I dont want Hobbes to die.

Probably bloat..where they get air trapped in their gut. Usual treatment I believe is antibiotics raise temp turn off the light and do not feed for 2/3 days

Sounds like bloat. Put him in a seperate tank. Fast him for about 4 days. Then feed him frozen defrosted shelled crushed peas for about the next 4 days. That should help him.

If you can put aeration in it like an air hose.

I have a little filter thing that I bought for it. Its probably not a great filter, but a filter none the less.
