I have some guppy fry that I have been thinking about putting in with the adults. They are almost 2 mths old now and probably about 1/2 in long. Would it be ok to put them in with the adults at this point?

personally i never separate my guppy/livebearer fry, the adult females always let their little babies alone. i always keep my fish rather well fed. honestly the whole point i got livebearers was to supplement my carnivores with fry! but the guppy fry wised up and stay at the top with their parents and always survive. in february 2011 i had 1 fat big momma guppy and now there are at least 4 mature females and 1 male not including big momma and dozens of fry. i wish something would eat them, but to no avail, the parents never even bother to take a swipe at even the newborns. but if youre concerned about the parents eating them you really shouldnt be worried at 1/2". i think youre safe, your only concern is that they are gna get "knocked up" early

Thanks Kasshan. I'm gonna try putting them in with the adults this weekend. They were from my very first batch of babies and she either only had 7 or had more and only 7 survived, not sure which. I got rid of a couple of them to a friend already but I still have over 20 right now so I know what you mean by wanting them to get eaten. lol. I'm not going to try to save them all anymore. If they make it then so be it.

how big is your tank? eventually what im going for is to have a planted 40g breeder tank, and it be a whole mini ecosystem. two rival cichlid species competing which lotsa live bearers at the top dropping babies with a shortfin male betta hunting and scattering guppy fry all over the tank(cuz right now they all hang out at the top without a care in the world.)

Feed the adults first and move some of the plants/ornaments around and turn off the light this will help your fry find nice places to hide incase the adults do not like the new tank mates
