Ok, I didn't ID all the fish in that 55G properly. What I had bought as 'minnows/baitfish' are actually small mouth bass. Had one of my fishermen students tell me that - and showed me a pic on his phone of the one he'd caught last weekend. Spent some quality time researching each fish and here's what is in the tank:

Small mouth bass - 5"
Pumpkinseed Sunfish - 4-5"
Bluegill Sunfish - 4-5"
White and Black Crappie - 4-5"
(have a total of 10 midwater fish)

And a couple of Plecos - 6-13"

After researching them all, I now know why I didn't find a single crayfish left in the tank when I remodeled the aquascape on Monday.

Nitrates are staying VERY low - so the stocking level is good. I'm only having to change a little water once-a-month. Do you guys think this community could go for one more year in this 55G before I move them to a 75G?

as long as the game warden dont catch ya, it will be fine! its not a good thing to keep an american fresh water sport fish as a pet. they dont like you doing that. dont know why. i think they are amazing fish myself.

I'm an educator using them in a classroom - perfectly LEGAL in all states! Just have to keep records of where they came from according to the TN wildlife agent I cleared it with prior to setting the tank up. He even helped me get the fish!

The advantages of being a science teacher..... LOL...
