Just as you thought the hybrid parrot cichlid couldn't go through any more torturous bodily mutilation, our snapper picked up this one.
Balloon bodies, dyed colours, tattoos, the parrot cichlid seems to have been the number one subject for humans to try out their tricks in order to gain more fish sales. And now this...

Apparently the breeders have crossed cichlid hybrid selective breeding with new gene technology to give the parrot cichlid characteristics of fancy goldfish – a cyprinid.

Other traits now also said to be possible include lionhead parrots, veil and fantails, telescope eyes and even pompoms. A celestial eyed parrot cichlid is also said to be in the pipeline.

Just letting it be known, I am leaving this forum because of this thread.

The bashing and name-calling used against hybrid keepers such as myself, is very offensive, especially when I respected those same people in return.

Sorry you feel this way. Here at USA Fishbox we are not wanting to run anyone off b/c of a thread but I do understand your choice. However you will find that most forums you get on that have REAL fish keepers, most don't agree breeding and selling of hybrids.

I think I have stated many times on this thread and the forum that if you keep hybrids then so be it. Just don't sell and breed them on here. People are more then welcome to do what they want when they want but I don't agree with it. That's life.

I have a few OB Zebras myself. They infact are hybrids that were givin to me by a friend. They will forever be in my hands and I will take care of them just like I do the rest of my fish...but I will not hold them to high standards, sell or breed them.

This will be the last thing posted on this topic.
