| I had gotten 2 crawdads about a week before the HCCC auction, and not really trying to I got a male and female (thanks dad for showing me how to sex a lobster!). The female started to carry eggs so I seperated her into a 10gal so the kids (mine as well as others that I carpool) can keep tabs on the progress of the eggs. Lastnight I wanted to check on her because she did not eat the spirlena disc like she normally does and I saw three teeny tiny babies exploring a few inches from her.
Crawdads are a first for me so I am learning as I am watching her. I had been looking up the self cloning ones for about a year (but these two are not self cloning, though I did pick up a self cloning (SC) one at the auction). The pair are far different in behavior than the SC, they are super shy, where as I can hand feed the SC; which the kids think is awesome as well.

| I will get pics as soon as I get my camera back! (its out at the stables still!) Right now they are barely visible. I just added a powerhead with a sponge on the intake since the filter I got at the auction isnt working (that will be taken to the store to figure it out), so maybe the water will clear up and I can take some pics! Even the fish store was stoked about it when I told them today! | |

| ok... So I went from 0 crawdads, to swarming in them now!!! Now not only do I have free swimming babies, my SC is now HEAVY with eggs. Oh, and did I mention, I have my camera back??? Here are some pics (the ones of the babies are not that great as they are still hard for the camera to focus on)- Mom babies (ones that were not clinging to mom, there are still a few who are) they absolutely love the sponge I have on the powerhead (you can see the flashlight I was using for light... sorry) And now for my SC... check out how "heavy" she is!!!! Yesterday she didnt have one on her! | |

check out this website.... http://www.marbledcrayfish.com/marbledcrayfish/Welcome.html the one that is "heavy" with eggs now is the marble (or as I have put it, SC for self cloning), the other one is not a marble, and I actually saw the male "jump her bones" when they were in the bag from the fish store. The male just molted three days ago and is much bigger than he was; though I only get to see his claws as he is always hiding in the rocks, lol. The marbled has blue on her claws and some brown on her body, where the other one is all red.... when I took the pics the tank lights were out on the 125 where the marbled is at the moment, and there is not light on the 10 with the other female (her light comes through the window). I will try to take some better pics when the lights are on.
