I'm not up to the Discus status yet but once ready, I'll be following some of the same feeding routines I use with my angels... namely, I will pick up earth worms within my leaf piles.. (of which I'm pretty confident is pretty organic).. and i'll put them in a cup of water for an hour or so.. then chop them into bite sized pieces.. they go gonzo over these infrequent treats.. 2 times a month maybe. Any downside from that practice?

As long as you're feeding them something that is within reason they will be fine. The most important thing is a varied diet. Almost any of the Discus farmers say they use some mix of foods during the day to keep everyone happy.

STM.. i read a lot and retain very little...<grin> but that was one lesson I took from my first efforts long long ago.. mix the diet!.. and emulate their natural environment as much as possible.. that's why I used to use peat in the filters... glad to know they aren't quite as demanding as 25-30 years ago..

I feed beefheart/brine shrimp/spirlina/krill and discus bio gold pellets. Smaller Discus may not eat the krill due to it being larger peices of food.
