Fixing to do a diy cfl light fixture, wondering what plants would be good for a 36g bowfront. Will have little over 2wpg. Haven't decided on fertilizer yet either, I have 4 pieces driftwood I'll put in the tank, Also have a diy co2 injection system In the progress I can use. Just a community tank. All helped appreciated!

Almost any plants would work.

DIY CO2 could get tricky on a tank that size. Do you have drop checker to measure?

As for ferts, I like using dry myself. Will save you some $$$ as well.

While the WPG rules is really outdated I know pretty much every place that sells plants still uses it so with that in mind if you look for some low to medium light plants that also fit your water parameters (Hardness, PH, Temp) You should be good to start off with some plants.

Setup an 8-10 hour photo period (I use a timer to keep it simple)

As for DIY CO2 I would give it a try in a tank that size you might just get away with it.

What have you picked out as a diffusion method for the CO2? This will be an important factor in weather it will help much.

For ferts... like I tell everyone test your water first and see what the baseline is. You may be surprised to find that you already have a decent amounts of Nitrates, Phosphates in the tank already.
That being said you might be able to get away with dosing with just Micro nutrients for some time. If your plants start sucking up all the nutrients in the tank then it may be a good time to invest in some dry ferts. as James said this will save you lots of money of time when compared to pre mixed liquid ones.

Once you have those you can mix you the concentration levels you want (another advantage of dry ferts) and be able to add 1ppm,5ppm ect... I will caution you that dumping lots of ferts into the tank won't help the plants any and likely upset the balance in the tank leading to algae blooms and dead plants. A slow addition of them in the tank to reach the recommended levels is key. Once they reach those levels monitor them once a week (roughly) to find out just how much the plants are really using. After you see a trend (same drop for several weeks) you will know how much to add and can go long periods of time without checking them.
