| So after watching my husband (strikingthematch) come to this forum about a billion times, I finally cracked down and decided to join myself. I'm honestly just a spectator of his hobby, and can really only claim one of our fish as my own (Morpheus, my little blue beta). And I suppose the diamond tetras he got me (his idea of buying me diamonds for V-Day :P). Once we're completely finished with it, we'll get some decent pictures up, but I'm the one who spent hours carving out rocks for our 3D rock wall background we decided to attempt to make for our 120 tank. Doesn't look too shabby if I say so myself. I'm actually having my try at being an amateur freelance artist, so maybe I can talk striking into letting me jazz up his fish room he's working on, and I'll be sure to post pictures of that as well. And maybe any fish paintings that I decide to do.
Anywho, nice to meet you guys!

| Oh, I still want to kill him. But right now the love meter is higher lol.
The moment I saw the diamonds (about two months ago), I knew I had to have them. We actually got this really cool 15 gal tank off CL maybe 2 weeks ago that has a metallic frame, and I plan on having them permanently go in there. Now it's just a matter a place to put it.

| Indeed. The amount of knowledge and information he has accumulated about aquariums and fish and cycling etc within the past several months still astounds me. Wish I had that kind of motivation. Now if only he can take that energy and put it towards building me a fireplace mantel lol. | |

| We might have a barter opportunity here! I built my first fireplace mantle 30 years ago! Built the fireplace too but that took 2 years! (Seems I did a lot of stuff 30 years ago......)... I actually found a cherry tree in a farm field. approached the farmer and bought the tree standing for $100.00. it was a massive cherry tree prob 14" in diameter. Had a buddy with a car-trailer haul it to a lumber yard and they trimmed it to an 8" X 8", 12 feet long. Took it to my home, coated each end (6-8 inches) with paraffin (wax). Supported the length with 2 by 2's every couple of feet to eliminate warping. This was in my kitchen! The wax suppressed splitting and drying too fast. Turned that sucker 1/4 turn every day for a solid year! Turned out beautifully... actually sold the house when the time came.. | |
