| Tonight I received 2 5"discus for free due to them having a fungus infection and the owner did not have time for them. He was going to freeze them tonight and I have the 50 tall ready so I took them. They are acclimating at the moment so no pics yet but should be within the next hour. What is the best med for fungus and discus anyone know? |

| are they eating if not look at them head on and see if their head looks round or if it looks like someone pinched them over their eyes id keep the tank temp up to 86 and change 50% water everyday they are really bad about internal infections | |

| I'll continue my research until an actual expert chimes in: " Chloromycetin. Purchase it in powder form and use 1 teaspoon per 100 liters of water. Calculation the exact capacity of your aquarium is very important to avoid over dosing. In many cases, a significant improvement can be seen within 8 hours. Chloromycetin will dissipate after 12 hours and you may have to administer a second dose after two days to be on the safe side." | |

| An article i just finished recommended temps of 96 Degrees (36 C).. with increased aeration..
Did the shop owner take a water reading of the water that accompanied the fish when they were brought into the shop?

| Hi Ursula Yep what you got is (Discus wasting syndrome)they probably got one of these (Cryptocaryon, Hexamita, Ichthyophthirius) ,Its caused by people not changing water ,Not QTing other fish when added to the discus tank or not deworming them If those two Discus were mime and I wanted save them here's what a Redneck would do . Temp=88 30 % water change daily add med after water change=Metronidazole at 1/8 Tea per 10 gal for 14 days Thats my 2 cents Your Buddy TxRedneck

| salt will help with the white stuff on the other guy, add salt to the tank. i had a guy waste away that i got from kleankord on the other forum. i still have the other one, teeters now and again. has more weight on him but still not perfect had him over 3 months now. just feed them 3 times a day with blood worm daphnia and sinking pellets, mix garlic in there to see if they have any parasites inside and do water changes. hes still alive doing that and he will light up every feeding time, hes slow but i feed him with my turkey baster to make sure he eats. | |

| mine is always black and hes still alive, thought the other one will survive since he stayed lighter then him but hes still here lol, if you decide to do that at least they had a slim chance of being cared for properly. | |

| Hows their poop? White and stringy? If so more than likely Hexamita or HITH. If that is symptoms and they are eating I would threat with Metro mixed into their food @ 1gram metro per 100grams of BH mix. Also bump up the temp and keep up om those water changes.. I have seen some pretty sad looking fish bounce back here.. Just depends on how long they have been ill and previous etcs...
Also have had good luck with API General Cure as it also has Praziquantel as well as Metro, so if your not sure on what is going on it covers more basis.. But is EXPENSIVE!!
Also I would give them a light dose of epsom salt.. First off..
But Im no expert, just from personal experience...

| Well they turned black and just sitting on the bottom barely moving even when touch by a net so they are in the freezer now. I guess the move was too much for them in their condition. Now the next step what do I do to clean the tank? |
