| I got a new delta boy last night. I'm eagerly waiting for him to make a bubble next because I want to see what they look like. Maybe he's just shy. LOL | |

| Not always. I have on occasion had males that won't build a nest until the female is right in the tank with him. You could try taping a small mirror on the side of the tank so he can see himself. He will flare at himself thinking he is real macho and build a nest. | |

| I'm sure it's a bit premature since he's a new fishy, but I set a female in her little tank in the aquarium. she's interested in him- but he's not doing anything. no flaring, no nothing. he's from Petco, so he's probably recovering. he's got lots of swimming room in a nice heated 10 gal. | |

| Are all his fins grown out? You're sure it's a male? He may be to young although I have had males flare as early as three months. | |

| Yes look like a male Cambodian. Is he eating good? Does he seem to be healthy? Some times it just takes some longer to mature. | |

| Feed him Betta pellets you can get at your LFS and the bloodworms. | |

| We got blood worms. And I'm going to pick up some pellets too. The flakes are quite messy. | |

| Did any of you ever have an issue with the bloodworms growing in the tank? When I had a betta in a community tank ages ago, I fed him (and the other fish) bloodworms, and started to notice little worms living in my tank. I cleaned the tank and cut back on feeding bloodworms and never had them again.
And my betta that I have now has a bubble nest going. Its not big at all, just a bunch of bubbles sitting on the surface of his vase (had to move him out of the filtered tank while our baby platys grow). I have only ever seen my bettas do small ones. Unless that all they do.......

| Where they white worms growing in the tank?? Thats usually a sign of over feeding if theyy were BWs you fish would more than likely gobble them right up. | |

| Hmmm, I think they might have been.
Good to know, tho. I will deff keep an eye out for that. I feed flake food right now, tho. I didnt like the betta pellet things because even tho it said they floated, they never did. And I havent been able to go to the store to buy any bloodworms. I will probably pick some up the next time Im out tho. Im a nerd and like to give my fish "treats" lol.

| Frozen bloodworms won't come alive in your tank. Bettas are carnivores so if you have white worms from over feeding that's just more food for the Betta. When I had a shrimp tank I had white worms in it from over feeding occasionally and I would put one or two Bettas in there and with in a day or two the worms would be all gone because the bettas love them. | |

| You could also try feeding him brine shrimp or baby shrimp. live brine shrimp is good for the baby fry if you are planning on breeding bettas. You can buy the salt and egg mixture and hatch live brine shrimp yourself. Check out this site it will show you how to hatch brine shrimp, all fish love live food. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uNkHPuGaqo&feature=related (visited 3/9/11) It is very insightful.. check it out.. | |
