We went to New York to pick up a dog on the euthanasia list at Manhatten ACC. We were told she was a pitbull/rottie. Well, we got there and it was immediately obvious that 1) they aren't super familiar with bullies, 2) she's most certainly not a rottie! We arrived to find a gorgeous blue tricolor purebred ABPT. Her name is Xena. We're still working on some dogs issues with her. No idea of her former life but at 50 pounds she's still pretty underweight and she's definately an alpha so we're working on training with her. They said she showed signs of dog aggression but we've come to realize it's really that she's easily intimidated by barking dogs, probably due to her time spent at the shelter. She's otherwise a very sweet girl.

Dancing for her treat. I was cuddling with her when I had a migraine but she's Daddy's girl and abandoned me when he came in.

Thanks, Vixen and 3de. 3, they were going to put her down because she had kennel cough which is easily treated! They claim to have been giving her meds but I doubt it because when we got her five days after said meds were "started" she had full blown bronchiolitis. Her coughing fits were horrible and she wheezed constantly. Our vet switched her to Cipro which got rid of the boogers in a few days but it was over two weeks before the coughing stop and she still is very, very hoarse a month later. Her "kill date" was January 10th but I lucked out and got a New York rescue to place a hold on her until I could get there on the 15th. Because of the kennel cough they didn't have a foster that could take her. I'm just happy we got her, though. That place is deplorable.
