The starting point on a new 150g build

Well I thought that i would start a build thread for my new 150g tank.

First step get tank........................done
Brand new 60 x 24 x 25 tank


now the new skimmer


In the process of getting the materials for my stand and sump. Hopefully I will
have everything in the next week to start setting it up

Ok I did not get as much accomplished as I wanted to but that is ok, will work on it some more when I get back.

The canopy is coming along nicely.

Thanks, have to go on a trip for work so it will be at least two weeks before I get to work on it some more but will update again when I get back .

So its back to work on the tank. I decided to make some changes to my canopy design. I initially was going to install the ballast on the inside back wall of canopy, but to reduce the amount of heat in the canopy I decided to install them outside the canopy in the back. So I created a box to install the ballast.

Welcome back. Can't wait to see some more on this build.

Thanks guys, I am hopeing that by the end of the weekend that there will be some doors on the stand and canopy. As long as the weather holds out.

Ok sorry for the delay in updating been very busy. SO here are some more pics.
ok all the door frames are finished will install the birch plywood inserts tomorrow and hopefully finish up the trim.


Even though I did not spend a lot of time not working on my stand today I got a lot done.
Here are some updated pics of the stand and canopy with the doors added and the canopy lid. I still need to add some
trim to the canopy lid and to the stand. If all goes as planned I should be ready to put some stain on it by the first of the
week.

This weekend was very productive on the tank build. Here are some more pictures. Now its time for the sanding and staining.
This is how much room I will have to work under the tank and in canopy because all the will come completely off.

Well that the next problem, yes I am going to stain it but not sure what color yet. I am going to go look at the stain colors and will pick the one that jumps out at me

I have been going crazy wanting to get this thing set up, but the dang guy building my stand and canopy (me) is just taking so long.

I'd withhold payment on the builder or better yet. charge him a per-day fee for non-delivery!... I'll provide the mailing addy for payment in the next missive

He is already being billed by the day. He owes me one new coral or fish for every day he is late on delivery.

ok here is another update.......I have been very busy with other life stuff and have not made much progress. I am again on travel for work but will put my full attention to this build when I return.

Canopy and stand stained

That's very nice. I can't wait to see it up and running!

I should be back around the 14th and will get back on this build. I just hate having to travel and not being to work on it.

Looking great as always. Can't wait to see the finished product.

what do you plan on throwing in their and what are you going to use for lighting?

Yes this will be a reef tank. And as of right now there will be only a pair of clowns, black sailfin blenny, some anthias.

And as far as lighting goes I will be running an 8 bulb T5 retros installed inside the canopy.
