| Welcome to fishmotherhood brenna, mollies like any other live bearers is just subject to size and diet, a females that measures 1.5 inches could give birth to as many as 30 fry depending on the diet, the down side is they sometimes can be canibalistic, thats why they recomend the floating boxes with the v groove, this allows the fry to escape and not be harmed and later to be transfered to a separate tank unless yours is heavy with plants then some of the fry will have a chance ,but I would recomend a 2.5 or a 5 gal till they get some size to them and you can re-introduce them to the tank, but you know this might be your first batch don't worry you will have many more, good luck, ps, have some food crushed into dust so you can feed the fry, they will be fine. | |

| just wait till tomorow to try to feed the fry, but just put a pinch of food later this evening for the mom, you dont want her hungry, remember if she gets fed she wont see the fry as food, good luck | |

| small/baby frozen brine shrimp is what i feed my try with a mixture of flakes i used to do just flakes but i started brine shrimp too and they seemed to grow faster and be healthier. I jsut cut a super small bit off the frozen brime shrimp chunk and put it in some water the thaw only takes about 1 min then just dump it in they love it.
you dont really have to do much or the mom and the fry let them do what they are going to do some will die from birth and thats jsut part of it but they can have up to 100 babies sometimes! it usually averages at about 30 though.
Mollys like most livebearers also store sperm so expect having babies every 3-4 weeks

| I have a black molly and a silver molly. The silver one looks like she is pregnant so hopefully before long might have some more is there anything special I should do once she starts having them. Should I put rocks or an air stone in the birthing tank? | |

| I just shove mine in a breeder box let the pop out then toss the female back in with the herd, I don't move them in another tank. It stresses them out. | |

| sometimes when you put them in another tank or even the breeder box if you put them in to early they stress and "abort" the babies where they will come out as eggs pretty much.
But we all loose some and gain some so jsut hope for the best on the next go :)
