You said 3" after 2 years. Does he have brown and tan bands. Maybe a clown pleco.

Yes brown and tan but more motled than a banded

Best top shot so far but not very good pic.

Looks like the chocolate places they sale. I think it is just a color mutation of the common pleco. Small for 2 years old though.

Way too small for a common.

First two pics look like a clown, third looks like a chocolate IMO. Where is the pleco keepers when you need them? LOL

D'Claro will likely be able to help - hope she chimes in! (where is a plain old smiley face when you need it? Rolling Eyes )

Doesn't look like a clown. Definately need better shots from the top side. Sry.

If it looks like this:
Pleco Id 208frpl

then it is what's commonly referred to as a Rubber lip pleco or bulldog pleco, Chaetostoma thomsoni. I've gotten these at Petsmart before too. I like them cause they are generally pretty peaceful and don't get nearly as large as a common. About 4-6 inches at adulthood. If it doesn't look like that, then we need to keep guessing, I guess!

not anywhere close to a rubberlip. These have stayed at 3" for the past 7 months.

Mine did too. Very slow growers... So it doesn't look like the pic at all? Cause if not I'm at a loss, cause Petsmart only sells so many different types of plecos.
