| Looking for a good breed. Nothing cheap. I want thick, fat head! Looking to spend $500 or so for the right dog. | |

| I don't want to sound like a bad guy but I don't want a recue pit. I would rather have one from EARLY weeks and raise them up. I planed on rescuing a few when I got my own house and land in a few years. I hope to provide space for atleast 2-3. I love pit bulls! Best dogs ever. | |

| I have 4 Great Danes! I have a soft spot for big goofy dogs! There are tons of Pit Bull breeders here in Southeast Virginia (unfortunately the bad ones mostly) this is where Michael Vick had his "Dog rings" going. I'm sure you can find a good breeder if you shop around though. JB | |

JB Yeah, Only if people knew what M. Vick really did. Burn, hang and drown dogs b.c they did not preform well. DOn't get me started on that topic. I think he should be in jail for life. If you kill over 300 dogs the way he did you are crazy enough to kill a human. I hope he breaks every bone in his body in the next NFL game. - cwhip wrote:

| Good luck finding one!!! It's hard sometimes to find just the right one, been looking for an aussie or aussie cross for a while well the last couple years just so happens found one the other day at Wallyworld it was even my color got a thing for "red dogs".
My one neighbor has a pit that in my book is the perfect specimen of the breed, she is stunning!!! Funny too, just a great dog.

| you may want to check out the laws in your county before you buy because of Breed-Specific Legislation Pits along with Rottweilers are not allowed in many areas and in certain living situations or on Military bases for that matter. | |

Our area is good. I use to have 2. I have had a pit all my life. GREAT companions. 2 live in my same apt area. - Fern wrote:

So are pit bulls!! If you have never owned one the you would not know. Pit bulls use to be used to watch kids and farm animals back in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

| Had to put one down (long sad story) He was from an aggresive breed and I had some problems with him and the kids. ( got him before I was married and even had kids) One of the hardest things I had to do was choose my dog or my kids. Not that hard of a choice but I did love my dog!
The female got hit by a car about 5 months ago. There was a dog that would keep getting into my gate and when he did he would push it open and somehow get in. My female got out and wonder the streets. All in the same year. I have been heart broken since and I miss the helll out of my dogs. This time around I am doing things a little different. I already have a name picked out and I know I want a female.

| I have to agree Kory its how they are raised that makes the differance. still temperment testing is a great idea.

| Absolutely Kory... How they are raised from day one is important. The temperament of the parents is important too.
I am so sorry to hear that you lost both your dogs this way. I know what it is to lose one but I still have the other one to hold onto. And OMG she is getting so spoiled being an only dog that it is crazy! :)

Oh I agree that properly raise pit bulls are fantastic dogs! But growing up with a Rhodesian ridge-back as your older brother makes you a little partial |

| Kory between a dog and kids there is no contest. I too love my dogs but there would be no question in my mind as to what the right thing would be to do. Not for a second............Also do you remember that member ricardo? I haven't seen him on here in a long time but didn't he raise show pits? You could maybe try to contact him. | |

| It's funny our neighborhood is full of pit 1 on each side of me and both very sweet dogs. The one is about 6 months and loves my dog (German Shepard/Lab mix rescue) they have dug a hole under the fence and he visits here all the time. He is a beautiful blue pit and so loving sometimes he waltzs in the house and curls with my dog and they sleep together. But he's kept outside most of the time so he comes over to our house. |

| what's a pitbull, is that a bull who is in a pit... and they dress the bull up like a dog . I do know what a American/staffordshire/ staffordshire bull terrier is though... they make great dogs... my American terrier mix pancakes aka toby.(said toe bee) is a good one but he is not for sale... I wish you luck, just be careful on CL with all the "purebreed" but have no papers, and the pitbulls for sale and you ask them you say is this one going to be a American, a staffie, or a amstaff. if they can't tell you that. i would move on... I know how you feel my sister had to put down her staffordshire because it got cancer in it's back legs and was no longer able to use those legs and then her other one went to her husband during the divorce.... I've always had a thing for pits, love- able dogs if you treat them right.. never been bit one either.. I have been bit by the "designer" dogs, and the little yap yap dogs though... BLA BLA BLA PITS ARE MEAN, SHOULDN'T BE AROUND KIDS, NOT GOOD DOGS, WHAT EVER. pits are just mis-understood just like me. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |
