This makes me sick - WARNING, Pics not suitable for HAPPY Holiday Season

Okey, so me and some of my bros went to walmart today to get some Coors light and food for New Years Party and stuff when I came across the pet section, and I told my self, I may as well pick up some dog food while iam at it..... but then I walked pass the "fish" section and I flipped bricks... Took out my phone and snapped some shot at this animal cruelty... well Iam sure many of you guys have seen this plenty of times and so have I, but not at ANOTHER Walmart.... I thought they banned Warmart from selling fish... guess I was wrong...





















All these Bettas just suffered like this.... And I know many of you guys thinks this happens all the time and are use to it.... but to me, all the wrong in the world does NOT make this right.

I won't go into any details of what happened next but me and boys got kicked out, all 8 of us. luckly I was able to take some pics again.

And by no means am I trying to go agginest warlmart or anything but this is just ridiculous.

Sorry for anyone that read my rant about this. But bashing the walmart Pet manager just wasn't enough for me.

Send the pics to Wal-mart and your local news station...heck call peta(sometimes they can do some good)

I agree this is despicable, and the worst part about it is the fact that most chain box stores are just as bad.

I know they brag about quality at low prices wel there fish are not quality and not low prices either. I think a TV news show should be called about it see what wal-mart says then!

I worked at a wally world back when I was 17. At the time I was assigned to pets and toys. This is when they had birds and hamsters as well as fish.

Long story short - the manager got on to me because of my regular routine of coming in, cleaning/feeding everything in pets FIRST before going and stocking in toys. We got into it. I was the loser. But the pet section had never been so healthy - before then or after.

That Walmart (Nashville on Charolette pk) still carries fish. There's always a sick tank or two. I try not to go back there and look anymore. Granted, I don't shop much anymore. I go to speciality shops for most everything now; clothes, pets, groceries, etc.... I generally only go in to Walmart for fish food, bottled water and makeup.

Wally world: No customer service, treats employees bad, and could care less about anything but the bottom line....

sue Walmart!!! i wonder what happends if you grab a group of Walmart employees and put them in a freezer all naked for one night to see whats the results!!!, that gets me very upset!

It is horrible and typical chain store actions. Kills me to walk in there and see almost an entire tank lying dead and noone does anything about it.

Think about how many little kids look at those aquariums every day.

Why do people chose bettas to make profits just to kill them. I think we need to find the breeders who are selling to walmart and attack them also. (not just the bettas but all their fish that are sold to walmart)

There is no excuse for doing this to fish or any animal at all.They sould be

a couple of years ago I got kicked out of a wal-mart and they threatened to call the police on me!!! Whatever...

I went to the fish area to "look" around and the system was screwed up and all the fish were at the top of the tanks gasping for air. I got the manager and he said, "they'll be out this week to fix the problem". I said, "but the fish are going to die"... he said "it happens, but we can just write it off..." He couldn't have been more than 25 yrs old. I said, "oh well that makes sense." he walked away and then I had a great idea. There were a dozen or so air pumps on the shelf so I decided to open a few of them! WOuldn't you know it they just happen to have air hose and plenty of air stones! So I'm in the middle of hooking this stuff up when some young buck security gaurd walks over and grabs my arm and says "Sir come with me"... I stood up and said "whatever they are paying you isn't worth this,,,please let my arm go." (for those that haven't seen me I've 6ft and close to 300 lbs) he let my arm go and called for the manager on the radio. Meanwhile I hook up a few more tanks.. The manager arrives and says "The police are on the way." I said, "for what?" He says "You're stealing merchandise!" I said, "no sir, I"m not taking anything out of the store." He then says, "You're destroying property." I said, "Some would see it that way, but I see it as saving 1000's of fish and I'm sure the news channels would love to hear about this!" The manager said, "Sir, if you just leave I promise we'll take care of it." I told him if I can have 5 minutes and finish the last few tanks I'd save them the work." he actually let me finish and then they escorted me to the door. I was told "Sir, please understand Wal-mart does care for our "Critters" and that we normally don't have situations like this happen." I said, "Blow me... and I walked out the door!"

That is awsome JB..I admire that. I would have done the same thing.

I hate wall-mart for pets , fish ect. Sick, unhealthy, and as far as the cichlids go most likely a hybrid. Wall mart gets there fish from wholesalers who have one big pond of cichlids that have been breeding with others and making hybrids and then they sell them as MIX AFRICANS.... WHAT THE F*** is a Mix african??????

There are a few bettas at my lfs in jars that size, but most are in ones 3x that size and get water changes every other day and the shop is always a good temp for them.

we all know that its a sick and twisted world we live in and yes something needs to be done. but this is nothing new to any of us. walmart, pet smart, and lots of other stores we all know and shop at have been treating the pets we hold so dear like this for a very long time. the battas remain in the same little cup, in the same tiny bit of water untill they are sold, or they die. but why care? i mean why should they care about a fish that only cost walmart 20 cents? if they only sale one they've payed for the hole lot! the place walmart gets these fish from used to be called ( blue springs ) located right here in alabama. there called some thing eles now. dont know what. went there with a friend once. not a place id care to go back to. yeah your right. there sick. so lets do some thing about it! ill stand up if youll join me!

Thanks for the info Scotty. We need to find out the name of that fish farm and start a boycott or something. Come on people join in. Let's not just sit and Bi*$h about it.

Emailed the pics to PETA already. Not sure if they will do anything but I also included the address of the walmart and the managers name.

I understand that this happens all the time and many people doesn't care. But dang it if I can save just one out of the 20 million fish that are suffering that's better than saving none.

That how I see it and that's the ONLY way I can make self feel better about this. I think the most important thing is to always remember our own experiences. That way we can always raise awareness around us and little by little we can make a difference.

Seriously how hard is it to change the water a few times a week?

They have a built in loss acceptabilty just give us the fish we can care for them

I have seen 1 Wal-Mart in my area that has good tanks. All the rest have terrible tanks. Way to go JB. They probably tore your stuff down after you left, but way to go.

jb1 i live in Norfolk! I know what you mean, walmart is awful for pets. they shouldn't be allowed to sell fish.
