random cichlid?

I got this from the random cichlid tank at petsmart. no one could tell me what it is. I know I've seen it before and it's common... what is this? any info on it?

No clue. Pretty cool looking tho.

he's yellow and black now in the tank, hopefully he gets brighter!

a pic of it in your tank would help to id it, but i do not trust the mix mbuna tanks and the LFS so i would not assume it is 100% if an id was givin.

upon googling it that looks like it's probably correct. especially since it changed color from the blue to yellow in my tank. it doesn't want any of the dempsey! lol

Very aggressive fish. Have enough room for him or he will kill others more than likely. I have had 2 an rehomed both

even a red devil and a dempsey?

the dempsey and red devil might be fine but the other not soo much. mine targeted my jewel cichlids, destroyed 2 labs and rearranged my tank each and every day. most all my fish at one time had missing scales and parts of fins due to them

that sucks... i love my lil jewel :(

yeah they have a bad rep. you could not even give me that fish for free lol. good luck tho i am sure he will be fine.

He seems calm so far, most of my fish do except the dempsey... we'll see...

just what ever you do, do not get him a mate!!! that will bring his true aggression out lol.

They are very very aggressive.I 1 have in my African tank and 2 Albino's also and fight everytime I turn off the lights so I have to leave the lights on 24hrs a day.Especially if you don't have alot of fish in your tank they will start targeting each fish untill there gone.I have tomany fish so there ok with mine.I hope it works out for you.Good luck!
