| First topic message reminder :I have a guppy tank and the water is so very green. I did a partial yesterday to try and get it back to normal and I woke up today and it is green again. There isn't any algae growing on the glass or anything else in there, it is just the water that is green. Please help! There is a good filtration system and plenty of oxygen. I cannot think of what it would be. I cant put certain chemicals in because I have frogs and snails in the tank too. | |

It is looking much better. Totally clear now. I have had to black it out twice now and I got some better curtains for the window it is closest to. Thanks for the advice. It worked. | |

| The freshwater aquarium salt does more harm than good. |

Just curious, why do you sau that...? i must admit i am a little curious myself. the last time i had a freshwater tank i used the aquarium salt and i kept angel fish, neon tetras, fancy tailed guppies, and a puffer all together in a 55 gallon tank (of course this was years ago) |

| There are quite a few freshwater fish and critters that any amount of salt can kill. If your thinking of using salt for any reason its a really good idea to thoroughly research all of your tank inhabitants before doing so. One example is corys are not salt tolerant and it can cause long term health effects. There are many ways to deal with things without the use of salt. I don't use it except for a few of my cichlids. |
