thats what I would do, just keep an eye on them to make sure one is not getting to beaten up, chances are right now they are just figuring out where each others territories are.

Some info I dug up
http://freshaquarium.about.com/cs/africansgeneral/p/kribensis2.htmSelecting a Pair:

Selecting a Pair:
If you wish to breed P. pulcher, finding an established nesting pair makes the relatively simple process. However, you can select your own pair, as they are relatively easy to sex. Choose young specimens that are healthy and robust. P. pulcher reaches sexual maturity is as little as six months (females mature faster than males), so make inquiries - often the store owner knows the age of the fish.
Females have shorter rounded fins and a broad yellow band across the top of the dorsal fin, are smaller than the males, and have a more rounded belly that is bright red/purple when they are ready to spawn. Males are longer and thinner with fins that end in distinct points. They are less brilliantly colored than the females, especially the belly. Take care to get the same species of fish. There are several closely related species that may look similar, they will not spawn with each other.
Once a pair has been established do not introduce another fish into the tank. Males will invariably fight, and even two females will quarrel for the attention of the male.

more info-
http://www.fishlore.com/profile-kribensiscichlid.htm

Gender : The females are usually more colorful and possibly smaller than males of the same age. The dorsal fins on the female may be rounded whereas they can appear pointy on the males

I have a mated pair of kribs that are killers. They have to stay in a tank of there own. It's the first pair I've had that are so mean. At the moment I have 27 1.5 to 2" males the water must have been to warm because the whole batch is males not one female. Each pair IME is quite unique and have different personalities and I've had several pairs over the years. Be sure to have several caves for them to hide in not just plants.

the higher PH the more males to be.
the lower the PH, like under 7. then more females.

i think i read it online somewhere.

I have read that also but I have a low PH 6 .8. Temp in most cases is the reason for unusual male/female ratio in fish. They breed during increased temp due to an Ich outbreak so the temp was at 84 for 2 weeks.
