| A. Why is it sad that you can getting a new filter B. Why did you get a cascade C. How did you come up with Fred and Martha | |

| A, please restate the question
B, I love them! simple, efficient, reliable and less expensive than other brands, takes me like 10 minutes to clean them, other canisters take forever.
C, Just good redneck names! I couldn't very well call them flowerhorn A and flowerhorn B! Turns out they are both males but oh well such is life. |

| No they are both 'pets' I don't plan on breeding them. They are just pooping way too much for the aquaclear 110 to keep up with it. Fred is 10-11" and about 5 pounds. Martha is 7-8" and about 3 pounds. So pretty big fish..... I need to start looking for a 120g for them soon and this filter aught to keep up with them... I hope! |

| Ya thats one of the reasons I love them! They are like the aquaclear of canisters! Not very many parts to mess with and break, simple and effective! |

That is where question A is directed to. I have not heard that many good things about cascade like them not lasting and being noisy....but then again I might be getting a cascade 500 here soon

| I'm clueless on weather they are noisy or not, with as many tanks in a room as I have its just noisy in there The only thing that will break on them is where the hoses screw off from the top. I just don't mess with those. To clean the filters I just pop off the top and set it in a bucket and tote the canister part outside to clean it. Anything with plastic threads that your screwing and unscrewing all the time will wear out quick. My first one I got was a used 500 and that thing is a work horse! I have not been kind to it at all and it runs like a charm. Never had an issue with priming or the impeller or even the seals. Its been running for over a year now without any issues. They will leak some out of the lid when you unplug them and don't shut off the valves. I just keep mine in one of those little bins you get from the hospital so I don't have to worry about that. In FL the power tends to be flaky so I just plan on that little drip from time to time. |

| Look them up and see what they are rated for and let me know what one you prefer or if you just want whatever one comes by first? Used equipment is brought in by other folks so I never know when we will have what. I believe we have a 100 or 1200 now though. |

| I've recently switched to all submersible Cascades. I found my on-the-back filters shut off at school on too many occasions to continue trusting them. (Brief power shut offs for school maintainance is the culprits - they happen very often I've learned the hard way) Bought my first 600 simply because it was the cheapest submersible that I could find. $30 retail compared with $48-60 for other brands.
Found that I really liked them. So now I have a 600 in my 29G (filtering for 50G - like overfiltration!), I have two 600's in my 55G planted tank, and 1 600 in my 55G Malawi tank.
The only problem I had with one Cascade was a 200 that I purchased for my 10G guppy/snail/ghost shrimp tank. Motor went out within a few days. Store replaced with no problem.
So I'm now a Cascade fan.
